Los Gigantes (Spanish: Acantilado de Los Gigantes) is a small resort town on the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), located on the southwest coast, at the foot of the teno mountain range. The resort is well closed from the Northern trade winds by high rocks of volcanic origin, so the weather in Los Gigantes during the year is most favorable. The coast of Los Gigantes is a basalt rock, a sports seaport and a small beach of Los Gios (Spanish Los Guíos) with black volcanic sand. The city got its name in honor of the huge cliffs "Acantilado de Los Gigantes", as the translation from this name means" Giant cliff", rising up to 600 meters above the ocean level.
