Pilar de la Horadada is a young Alicante town that became independent from the municipality of Orihuela in 1986. Located on the southern edge of the Valencian Community, it belongs to the Vega Baja del Segura region.

Its municipal term has the coastal nuclei of Torre de la Horadada and its urbanizations (Pueblo Latino and Victoria Playa), Mil Palmeras and El Mojón and in the mountain area with Pinar de Campoverde. The most important centers are Torre de la Horadada (La Torre) and Pinar de Campoverde (El Pinar).

Its excellent location with beach and mountains and its temperate all-year climate are the two main factors on which its economy has been based, mainly focused on agriculture and tourism.

From north to south they have received the Q de Quelite quality label and four of them also have a blue flag: Las Higueritas, El Conde, Jesuitas and Mil Palmeras. That is why there are many who choose them to practice nautical sports such as diving, sailing, kite-surfing or simply for swimming.
