Barbate is a town located on the Barbate River. It used to be a village of Moroccan fishermen who fished mainly for tuna. It is dominated by Mount Retin, which occupies the east of the municipality, reaching a height of 200m. The climate is Mediterranean, with an average temperature of 8°C in winter and 23°C in August.
