Benalmadena is a municipality in the province of Málaga. Historically, the region has been occupied and inhabited by many cultures dating back to the Bronze Age, including the ancient Phoenicians and Romans, and it has also been heavily influenced by Moorish settlement in the southern Iberian Peninsula. The climate is generally Mediterranean, with moderate temperatures throughout the year, with no frost during the colder months, and an average temperature of 19 °C. The city of Málaga (and nearest airport) is about 12 km to the west and Marbella 42 km to the east.
